For this you can use the Split Measure plugin which will do all the work for you. In your example, there's no reason you couldn't put the two eighths at the end of the first system into the 2nd system, as well as the last two eighths of the 3rd system into the 4th system. This can work if the music can be accommodated without too much squashing or expanding. It sounds as though you're notating something like a hymn with a setting of a poem, and that you want to keep each line of text on its own system. But is it not because it's a bit difficult to achieve? Does it have any advantage for choral singers to split such a measure this way? Or should I just leave measures alone and therefore have first two syllables of the next line in stanza together with the current line?
